MY ROLE
Design, Illustration, Branding, Font Creation

Flat Design Icons

Set of design elements for a fictional mobile app. I was inspired by clean, flat design but also wanted it to have a distinct, fresh attitude.

Users would be able to pick from a palette of color schemes to help it feel customized. To avoid it feeling it off brand, I stuck with similarly saturated, funky colors and limited the choices to 3. Light mode and dark mode were also taken into consideration.

Custom Font - 20's Hotel

This font was inspired by the roaring 20’s advertising era. I love how the dichotomies really shine here. It's structurally playful with the fluid movement of a roller coaster. You can download the font for free. For commercial or personal use.

Kachina Kids

Living in Arizona broadened my understanding and exposure to different Native Cultures in America. I learned about Kachinas from seeing their statues in a friend's home and I fell in love instantly. "Kachinas are spirit beings in the religious beliefs of the Pueblo peoples, Native American cultures located in the south-western part of the United States. In the Pueblo cultures, kachina rites are practiced by the Hopi, Zuni, Hopi-Tewa, and certain Keresan tribes, as well as in most Pueblo tribes in New Mexico." The way that they had strong ties to dance rituals, their colors, their heavy connection to animals and the beautiful designs that had a modern graphic quality were all inspiring. I created these characters for fun and imagined if Kachinas were in a game and had pets.

Branding from passion

I wanted to create a brand based around a couple of games my husband made for our 2 year old daughter.
The name Tapigo is meant to be perceived as something recognizable (even if not exact) in multiple languages to encourage the feeling of inclusion. It had a young energy, direct reference to its’ actual use (tapping on a screen) and global appeal (took name options around to a few moms of different cultures before finalizing). The logo is meant to show a collection of apps landing into a tablet which mixes the old with the new. tells the parents and allowed for dynamic movement.
The site’s mission was to make parents instantly feel comfortable that our games are safe and fun for their toddlers and young kids. We wanted parents to not just learn about the games by visiting the site, but also feel like they were part of a community, so we added a place for discussion where everyone could exchange information and ask questions.

It feels a bit dated now in terms of web layout, but I still love the colors and the feeling it gives.
